THE GROWTH METHOD

A personalized teaching approach developed through years of hands-on experience working with children with autism and developmental differences.

Rather than relying on a single framework, The Growth Method draws from multiple evidence-based disciplines, combining the most effective practices used across developmental and therapeutic fields.

Through years of working with occupational therapists, speech therapists, behavioral specialists, and educators, we have taken the strongest strategies from these approaches and blended them into one cohesive teaching method designed specifically for children who learn differently.

The Growth Method focuses on helping children:

• Learn new skills in a structured and supportive environment
• Develop communication and language
• Improve focus and problem-solving abilities
• Strengthen independence and daily living skills
• Develop positive and functional behaviors
• Apply learning in real-life situations

Our goal is not just to teach skills in isolation, but to help children use those skills confidently in everyday life.

Speech & Communication Development

Communication is one of the most important foundations for a child’s development. Our approach focuses heavily on phonics and sound production, helping children understand how speech sounds are physically formed. Many children with autism struggle with speech because they are unsure how their mouth should move to produce certain sounds.

We therefore focus on:
• Syllable segmentation
• Phonics foundations
• Building functional communication

By helping children understand how sounds are produced, we support clearer and more confident communication.

Behaviour Development

To support positive behavior and emotional regulation, we draw from principles used in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

These techniques help us understand how behavior is shaped by environment and reinforcement. By using structured guidance and positive reinforcement, we help children develop behaviors that support learning, independence, and social engagement.

Calm to Learn (Sensory Integration)

Children learn best when they feel calm, safe, and regulated. we support children in reaching a regulated state where learning can take place.

We refer to this as Calm to Learn — creating a learning environment where children feel settled, focused, and ready to engage.

Social Skills & Play Development

Social learning is supported through strategies inspired by play-based approaches.

Through guided play, children develop:

• Social interaction skills
• Turn-taking and cooperation
• Communication during play
• Emotional expression and confidence

Play creates a natural environment where children can practice social communication in meaningful ways.

Academic & Cognitive Foundations

Strong academic skills begin with strong cognitive foundations.Through structured lessons and guided learning activities, we help children build skills in:

• Early literacy and phonics
• Numeracy and problem solving
• Memory and attention
• Logical thinking and learning readiness

Our focus is always on building strong foundations first, allowing children to progress academically with confidence.
